I've seen some materials "obviously" being metric rounded to nearest ASE units - but that's rare.

That´s exactly why i wrote this above:

Sure we may prefer to get things more suited to our very own special needs, but sometimes the world isn´t perfect, and we just can take what´s offered and say "thanks for your work, from here i will work it out to fit my needs".
