Two steps forward (ok, more like 4 or 5), one step back... Friends came over to help us repair the mouse droids, so we got the motor mounts cleaned up and assembled last night. Thanks Hans!
The motor assembly fit together pretty much perfectly on the first go:
However, I'd remembered the idle side as "having plenty of room", so I didn't really measure the size of the large triangle between the Lego and the wheel hole. Turns out that the corners of the mount hit the Lego.
I could trim them off I suppose, but I've modified it to fit the corner better. I also pushed the middle further into the corner, allowing a spot for another screw if I want it.
The silly part is that this board is in the 3D model and those holes are where I screwed into the 2 wide Lego bricks, so I *know* that it needs to be 16mm from the edge (2 lego studs). If I'd even looked at the model I was making, the error would've been pretty obvious.
